Email Delivery Guidelines

Orange email delivery guidelines to follow to make sure your message is accepted and not tag as SPAM by Orange platform:

  • Follow SMTP standards your email must include mandatory headers as described in the following RFCs:
    • RFC5321: Simple Mail Transfer Protocol
    • RFC5322: Internet Message Format
  • Monitor your IP and domain name from real-time blocklists (RBL). You can check your IP or Domain on MxToolBox or individually on the following RBLs:
    • Abusix: https://lookup.abusix.com/search?q=$VAL (replace $VAL by your IP address or by your domain name)
    • Spamhaus: https://check.spamhaus.org/listed/?searchterm=$VAL (replace $VAL by your IP address or by your domain name)
    • Cloudmark: https://csi.cloudmark.com/reset-request/?ip=$VAL (replace $VAL by your IP address)
  • Sending IP must be a static IP address
  • Check your DNS configuration and make sure it's up to date:
    • Your IP needs a valid reverse dns record (PTR)
    • Your domain name must have valid A or MX records. You can check your DNS configuration on MxToolBox or IntoDNS
    • Your DNS configuration must follow the latest recommandations about domain name authentication (SPF/DKIM/DMARC). See below for more details
  • You must be using a valid HELO/EHLO, It must be a fully qualified domain name (FQDN). E.g.: "mail.yourdomain.com"
  • Enable encryption on your SMTP server, use of TLS is strongly recommended (version greater than 1.2) to communicate with Orange email platform
  • Implement mandatory authentication mechanisms, Orange does now require at least one of the following mechanism to pass:
    • SPF is required, please configure it on your DNS domain name TXT record, more info here
    • DKIM signing is strongly recommended, more info here
    • DMARC is strongly recommended, please configure it on your DNS service, more info here
    • ARC sealing is required for forwarded messages, more info here
  • Maintain your distribution list, if you receive an error code "Invalid recipient, 416", it means this user is not a valid Orange/Wanadoo email address. Please make sure to update your distribution list with verified recipient email addresses.
  • Limits:
    • Sending limits: Orange currently allows up to two simultaneous connections per sending IP address, and up to 100 recipients per message
    • Email size limit: You cannot send messages larger than 45MB

    • Only SignalSpam authorized members may receive Orange Feedback Loop
